Rumors of Kendrick Lamar shooting a music video for his smash hit “Not Like Us” have been circulating social media for weeks.

After making a moment in West Coast hip-hop on Thursday, the Pulitzer Prize-winning recording artist plans to shoot a new music video this weekend. TMZ reports that K.Dot is taking extra security measures to guarantee the safety of himself, his team, and the community.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the Grammy-winning artist will shoot his latest music video in Compton. Kendrick’s team has obtained all the required permits for the shoot, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will provide extra security.

Kendrick’s production company is compensating officers at a rate of $120 per hour for the event. Authorities are remaining vigilant due to Lamar’s publicized feud with rapper Drake despite the absence of current threats.

Although the rivalry ended in early May with the release of “Not Like Us,” authorities are still monitoring social media for any potential issues. Drake’s Toronto mansion had three police incidents, including a shooting involving one of his security guards. Kendrick wasn’t linked to the shooting and no suspects have been arrested.

The feud between Kendrick and Drake led to a series of diss tracks, culminating with “Not Like Us” which topped the Billboard charts. “Euphoria” is another Kendrick diss towards Drake that also reached the top of the charts.

The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and other parties are optimistic about a peaceful production that showcases Compton’s positive aspects and counters negative stereotypes. Kendrick Lamar, known for fostering unity among LA gangs, is seen as crucial in reshaping the narrative about his hometown.

This new music video will showcase Compton’s vibrancy and culture, reflecting Kendrick Lamar’s commitment to his roots and celebrating the community’s beauty and potential.

Fans and residents are eager to see how Kendrick’s video will further uplift and transform Compton’s image.
