Quavo is scheduled to address the issue of gun violence alongside Vice President Kamala Harris at the inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit later this month in Atlanta. The event holds special significance as it coincides with what would have been his late nephew and groupmate TakeOff’s 30th birthday.

According to a report by Variety, Quavo will engage in a fireside chat with VP Harris, focusing on “the methods and approaches that must be taken to decrease gun violence and protect communities.” This collaboration isn’t new; previously, in September, Quavo, his mother, and TakeOff’s mother visited the White House to meet with Harris, initiating discussions on finding solutions to the pervasive issue that tragically claimed TakeOff’s life.

Quavo expressed his sense of responsibility following the meeting, stating, “I feel like your calling comes at the least expected times… I need to step up to the plate and hit a homerun… I want to knock down these percentages.” Emphasizing the urgency, he highlighted the need for better gun control measures and prevention of such incidents in the future.

Vice President Harris expressed gratitude on Instagram, thanking Quavo, his family, and TakeOff’s legacy for advocating action against gun violence. During their White House visit, Quavo also participated in a panel discussion with Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, Rep. Lucy McBath, and Greg Jackson from the Community Justice Action Fund. The panel focused on community intervention strategies, addressing gun violence, and the importance of advocacy.

The Rocket Foundation Summit provides a platform for Quavo and Harris to continue their efforts in raising awareness and promoting measures to combat gun violence, honoring TakeOff’s memory and striving for a safer future for all.
