Boosie Badazz has fired back at Kanye West over dissing his early 2000s smash hit, “Wipe Me Down.”

Last week, a video snippet from a recent episode of Ahmed’s The Ears podcast hit socials. In the clip, Ye boldly professes his belief that he singlehandly “invented every style of music of the past 20 years.” Adding, “I created Weeknd’s genre, Trav[is Scott], Drake. I’m gon’ head & say, with all love, Future & [Young] Thug also… because the autotune album.”

A man of many words, the Baton Rouge rapper took to Instagram, where he strongly dismissed Kanye’s claim.

“NOT ALL GENRES NOT EVERY STYLE,” he captioned a post of the excerpt’s screenshot. “NOT BOOSIE MUSIC !! YOU CANT RELATE TO NOTHING I RAP ABOUT [O]R YOUR MUSIC‼️

“NOBODY LISTENS TO KANYE N THE PROJECTS [O]R THE TRENCHES ‼️IM,A GON HEAD N SAY IT ‘ MY PEOPLE DO NOT RELATE TO YOU’.“

Soon after, in a since deleted Instagram story, Yeezy poked fun at the 2007 radio hit, writing, “I JUST SAW THAT WIPE ME DOWN WAS MADE IN 2007. I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHATEEVR THAT GENRE WOULD BE CALLED.”

Badazz didn’t take the diss lightly, swiftly clapping back at the legendary Chicago MC, this time, airing his grievances on X (formerly Twitter).

THE GENRE OF MUSIC I MAKE IS CALLED “BOOSIE MUSIC “ .IT MAKES YOU CRY, IT MAKES YOU SMILE , IT MAKES YOU DANCE, IT GIVES YOU MOTIVATION , IT MAKES YOU THINK , I REALLY RAISE PEOPLE THRU MY MUSIC,ITS REAL HEARTFELT MUSIC” he tweeted on Monday (March 18).

“RAPPER HAS RAISED MO STREET NIGGAS THAN ME .I MAKE THE MUSIC THATS MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE WE GREW UP N THE SAME HOUSE TOGETHER. WIPE ME DOWN IS NOT A GENRE OF MUSIC ITS A SONG.07 “ I WAS ALMOST A DECADE N .IVE BEEN PUTTING OUT THIS REAL HEARTFELT SHIT SINCE 98-99 [fire emoji] THEY JUST DONT GIVE REAL NIGGAS FLOWERS NO MORE BUT I GIVE THEM TO MYSELF #legend,” he added.

Released in 2007, “Wipe Me Down” featuring Foxx and Webbie soared to become a Top 40 hit, landing on the Billboard 100 chart.

Since then, Boosie Badazz has unleashed over four dozen full-length projects, including the freshly dropped “In House 2: Boosie and the Beast.”
