The world has been waiting to hear Drake‘s response to Kendrick Lamar‘s “Like Dat” verse, and it’s finally here. Or is it?
On Saturday (April 13), a snippet began circulating online, allegedly coming from Drake, who fired back at Lamar for taking shots at him. The Toronto rap star also appears to address Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and more.
A few weeks back, Future and Metro Boomin dropped off their We Don’t Trust You project. The album features the aforementioned track, with Lamar appearing to take several shots at Drake and J. Cole. Fans speculate this was in response to Drake’s “First Person Shooter,” which featured J. Cole and appeared on his For All The Dogs album.
“Motherf*ck the big three, n*gga, it’s just big me/N*gga, bum,” Lamar raps. “What? I’m really like that/And your best work is a light pack/N*gga, Prince outlived Mike Jack.”
As the world awaited Drake’s response, J. Cole released his Might Delete Later EP, on which he responded to Lamar on “7 Minute Drill.”
“Your first sh*t was classic, your last sh*t was tragic/ Your second sh*t put n*ggas to sleep, but they gassed it/Your th*rd sh*t was massive, and that was your prime,” Cole raps.
However, shortly after, the North Carolina rapper began to have second thoughts and told the crowd at his Dreamville Festival he was removing the song from all streaming platforms. Whether the individual in question is Drake or an AI has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned for updates.
