Yasiin Bey, formerly  Mos Def, could forfeit earnings from his upcoming tour due to nearly six figures in unpaid child support. The New York Post released the court document, which states that Bey owes $88,602.63 in back child support to Karima Sorel, the mother of one of his children.

Sorel has filed a judgment demand in the Manhattan Supreme Court. The filing includes Live Nation, Ticketmaster, Outback Presents LLC, and BaduWorld Inc. as defendants, aiming to ensure the judgment is enforced.

“This matter arises out of protracted child support proceedings in Family Court between Karima Sorel and the child’s father,” read the papers filed on June 1.

The legal battle between Bey and Sorel has spilled into the public eye. In March 2020, court documents revealed that Bey was ordered to pay Sorel’s attorney fees after refusing to meet his child support obligations. Bey, a father of six, now faces significant financial and legal challenges.

Despite these issues, Bey is set to join Erykah Badu on the Unfollow Me Tour, which will visit 25 cities across the U.S. starting in June. The tour begins on June 11 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio and concludes on July 23 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Presale tickets went on sale on April 20 through Ticketmaster, with limited availability remaining for some shows.

This unfolding situation casts a shadow over Bey’s tour preparations and raises questions about the financial implications for all parties involved. Yasiin Bey has not yet responded to the new court documents.
