It appears Travis Scott’s run-ins with law enforcement frequently this summer.
French media reported on Friday morning (August 9) that the 33-year-old recording artist was arrested in Paris after getting into a fight with his bodyguard. According to reports, the incident occurred at the George V luxury hotel around 5 a.m. local time (11 p.m. ET Thursday).
Paris police were called to the scene to break up the fight, and Scott was subsequently arrested for “violence against another person,” as confirmed by a police spokesman. Like most celebrities, Scott, legal name is Jacques Bermon Webster, was in Paris to attend the Olympic Games. He was seen on Wednesday (August 7) at the men’s basketball semi-final, where the United States defeated Serbia.
The Paris prosecutor’s office has clarified Scott’s charges, stating, “violence against a security guard.” According to a spokesperson from the prosecutor’s office, the security guard had intervened to stop a fight between Scott and his bodyguard, which led to the rapper’s arrest.
An investigation into the incident has been opened. Travis Scott and his publicity have not commented on the arrest yet. The rap star hits Paris after finishing up the hugely successful European leg of his Circus Maximus world tour.
The tour supported his 2023 album, Utopia, which features Teezo Touchdown, Drake, Beyonce, The Weeknd, and Dave Chappelle. Last year, Scott released a film, Circus Maximus, featuring Bad Bunny.
Paris follows Scott’s arrest in Florida in June. He was arrested in Miami on charges of trespassing and disorderly intoxication. After the arrest, Scott made merch featuring his Miami mugshot and sold it on his official website.
During a press conference earlier this year, Houston District Attorney Kim Ogg said Scott was cleared of criminal charges over the tragedy last year. However, a number of victims’ families have filed civil lawsuits against him.
