On Sunday (Aug.11), Kehlani jumped on Instagram Stories to give another statement regarding allegations of their involvement in a cult. In a series of posts, the singer details one of the more egregious claims against her: that she wanted to have their late friend’s ashes. Kehlani also declares they’re only focus is their daughter’s well-being. “my silence is focus. i am focused on my daughter. i’m tired of my silence being framed as anything but my daughter & the work i have to continue so her life remains as wonderful as it is, is my focus.”
The two-time Grammy nominee says they have no “ill will” toward the people hurling accusations at them. “I have no ill wishes even for those who have ill wishes towards me.” Earlier this week, the singer’s ex, Javaughn Young-White, filed for full custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Adeya Nomi. Per court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Young-White raised questions about the new crowd they’d been hanging with.
He believes that the singer is possibly associating with a cult. Kehlani took the claims head on via their IG Story. “What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue. I wanted to take the time to ensure that I responded to these accusations from a calm and considered space rather than a reactive one.”
The “After Hours” singer strongly denies “any claims” about leaving their daughter “with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe.” Kehlani adds, “I have always taken great care to ensure that my child remains protected and safe at all times. My child and my commitment to motherhood have always been my sole driving forces in life and will always remain so. This is who I am and what I have always been focused on.”
