Boosie Badazz was set to headline the Pull Up Car Show in Pacific Junction, Iowa, over the weekend, but the event took a tragic turn before it even began. Shots rang out in the parking lot, turning the event into a scene of chaos and leaving two men from Omaha, Nebraska, dead.

The victims, 28-year-old Marcus Johnson and 27-year-old Charles Williams Jr., were both shot in the parking lot just before the concert was scheduled to start at 9 p.m. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation confirmed their deaths, which occurred at the I-29 Speedway car show, where the event was being held

Lil Boosie, unaware of the tragedy unfolding outside, waited backstage for hours, only to learn that the concert had been canceled. “I’ve been in the back a couple of hours waiting to perform, and they just shut the concert down,” he said. “I don’t know, some sh*t happened at the front.”

Concertgoers were equally blindsided. T Scott, an attendee, recalled, “Absolutely [heard] nothing until the word started spreading that somebody had been shot.”

Marcus Johnson’s death resonated deeply within the local community, particularly with his family, the Bryant-Fisher clan, one of Nebraska’s largest, who had gathered in Omaha for their annual reunion. Teela Mickles, the family chaplain, described the impact of the loss, saying, “This is a very difficult time for some of our family members. They’re hurting, but we’re standing strong for them.”

Authorities, including the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, have launched an investigation into the shooting. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Iowa State Patrol and the Omaha Police Department’s helicopter unit, are assisting in the search for suspects. As of Sunday morning, no further details have been released about the motive behind the shooting or the identity of the perpetrator.

Boosie Badazz is set to headline the inaugural State Wide Emergency I concert on Friday, August 16, in Fort Worth, Texas.
