Nicki Minaj appears to have unfollowed MTV VMAs on social media after her rival Megan Thee Stallion was announced as host. The two rap superstars have been feuding throughout 2024. After MTV announced Megan as the host earlier in the day, fans revealed Minaj’s unfollow.

Tina Snow would comment on the hosting gig by reflecting on winning her first MTV VMA in 2019. She would tweet, “Wow [eye-watering face emoji] [muscle emoji] kept my promise to thee hotties and LEVELED UP [fire emojis] NOW ITS THEE HOTGIRL VMA.”

In December 2023, Nicki Minaj released her fifth album, Pink Friday 2, and debuted two songs exclusively at the 2023 MTV VMAs; however, she was not nominated in 2024’s MTV VMAs. Minaj has won four VMAs out of 12 nominations.

News of Minaj unfollowing MTV joins the icon unfollowing fellow female recording artists JT and Ice Spice. The Queen of the Barbz would respond to fans’ inquiries about the unfollows with, “Don’t ask me about nobody. If you don’t see someone around me, don’t ask me about them. Go and talk to them. The truth of the matter is that- yall don’t want to know the truth of the matter.”

Last week, Nicki announced the second leg of her “Pink Friday 2” North American tour with opening acts Tyga and BIA supported by the release of the album’s deluxe version. The tour resumes in September.

Performing the Hot Girl Summer tour with opening act GloRilla was Megan Thee Stallion’s highlight of the summer. The two would collaborate on several new songs in 2024, including “Wanna Be” and “Accent.” Cardi B, another Nicki Minaj rival, would join Megan and Glo on the “Wanna Be” remix.

Along with touring, Megan Thee Stallion released her new album, Megan, in June. The album features UGK, Victoria Monet, Big K.R.I.T., and more. “HISS,” Megan’s diss to Nicki Minaj, opens the album.

The 2024 MTV VMAs airs on September 11.
