Lil Baby was arrested in Las Vegas on Monday (August 26) after tipping $11,000 to all the employees at Toca Modera on Sunday night.
TMZ broke the news on Tuesday, reporting that the “Drip Too Hard” hitmaker was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. Baby’s attorneys, Drew Findling and David Chesnoff, would later clarify that the rap star does have a permit but not in Nevada. Referring to his real name, Dominque Jones, his attorneys provide TMZ with the following statement.
“To be clear, Dominique Jones has a valid Georgia Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit. On his behalf, we are actively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding his arrest in Las Vegas.”
Lil Baby was taken to the Clark County Detention Center and held on $5,000 bail. What happened surrounding the arrest is still unclear, as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police have yet to release arrest documents.
In 2022, Baby gave his crew $10,000 after winning a million on a single bet. Surprised by the win, the rap star shared at the time that he was in Sin City investing. He tweeted, “They know I won $ but what they don’t know is I ain’t out here balling I’m investing!!”
The latest arrest adds to several others that occurred in recent years. Back in 2019, Lil Baby was arrested in Atlanta for failure to signal, eluding police, and reckless driving. Two years later, he was busted in Paris after being caught with weed in a car.
Three people were injured in a shooting at his music video shoot in Atlanta in May. In July, Lil Baby’s business partner, Chad Dillion, was fatally shot in Atlanta. Lil Baby and Dillion were co-owners of a seafood restaurant.
