Dame Dash’s stake in Roc-a-Fella Records will remain with him for a few more weeks following a recent decision by a federal judge. On August 27th, Judge Robert W. Lehrburger delayed the auction of Dash’s one-third share in the company, originally set for August 29. The auction will now take place on September 21st.

The delay comes amid ongoing litigation involving Dash and movie producer Josh Webber. Webber had secured a judgment of $823,000 against Dash for copyright infringement and defamation. The proceeds from selling Dash’s share in Roc-a-Fella were intended to cover these damages. However, complications have emerged as New York State and New York City have also laid claim to the sale proceeds. The city is seeking $197,000 from Dash for unpaid child support, while the state aims to recover a portion of Dash’s reported $8.7 million tax debt.

Judge Lehrburger’s ruling on the delay provides Webber with additional time to set a new, higher minimum price for the stake and to address the claims made by the city. Webber’s attorney is working on a plan to distribute the funds between the state and city. Despite this, Dash’s lawyer, Natraj Bhushan, clarified that he was not part of the agreement discussions. “We look forward to the upcoming court conference so that all parties can present their cases, and the court can determine the distribution and priority of the auction proceeds,” Bhushan said.

Roc-a-Fella Records’ only significant asset is JAY-Z’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt. Recent legal filings suggest that ownership of the album will revert to JAY-Z in 2031, regardless of who owns the label. In response, Dash posted on Instagram, asserting, “They can say what they want, this shit is still for sale. You’re not buying a copyright, you’re buying a piece of a company ROC A FELLA INC.” He reiterated his call for serious buyers for his one-third stake in Roc-a-Fella.
