Flavor Flav is looking to add another title to his already extensive resume: torchbearer for the 2028 Olympic games. The legendary hype man sat with the Politickin’ podcast to share the news. Flav told the hosts— Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch, and Doug Hendrickson — he’s more than committed and ready for the role. In his opinion, if Snoop Dogg can do it, why can’t he?

“I put my bid in already. I said, ‘If Snoop can carry the torch in Paris — come on, man — Flav can carry that bad boy in L.A.,’ and Snoop did a fantastic job, man,” Flavor Flav says. Pharrell, John Legend, and will.i.am have also had the honor of bearing the torch. The 2028 Olympic Games will be in Los Angeles from July 14 to July 30.

Flavor Flav Opens Up About Addiction, Celebrates Sobriety

Flavor Flav has a lot to celebrate these days — mostly importantly, his sobriety. Earlier this year, the iconic Public Enemy hype man opened up about his addiction. Flav claims that he spent nearly $2,000 a day on crack cocaine. “I kinda maintained myself very well while I was on that s**t,” Flavor Flav said. “I kinda kept it hidden, you know what I’m saying? So a lot of people didn’t really know. They were trying to figure it out, ‘Yo, is he on something?’ Because I never let people know what I was doing… I started letting people know what I was doing when I was getting tired of being like that.”

He continued: “There was a time that I was spending $2,400 to $2,600 a day for six years straight. You do the math. That’s how much I spent on drugs… I ain’t gonna lie, I sold a lot, but I was my best customer… I had a lot of money at the time too, I was just doing wrong things with my money… God wanted me to live.”
