The NFL’s biggest night, just got a bit bigger. Kendrick Lamar has been named as the headliner for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, live from New Orleans. Lamar shared the news via video on Instagram on Sunday (Sept. 9). The video finds Kendrick playing with a ball launcher with an American flag as his background. “What the deal everybody, my name is Kendrick Lamar,” the video begins. “[And] I’ll be performing at Super Bowl 59. Will you be pulling up?”

He continues: “I hope so. You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship, right? No round twos. I wouldn’t want you to miss it. Meet me in New Orleans [on] February 9, 2025. Wear your best dress too, even if you’re watching from home. Let’s go.” Lamar shared a similar sentiment in the post’s caption: “Super Bowl LIX. New Orleans. February 2025.#AppleMusicHalftime.”

2025, Everything’s Coming Up Kendrick

Despite performing alongside Dr.Dre and Snoop Dogg on the Super Bowl Halftime stage in 2022, this would be Lamar’s first time headlining. “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” he said in a recent statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.” PGLang — the rapper’s creative imprint with long-time partner Dave Free — will be heading the performance’s creative direction.

In other news, rumors have been circulating that Kendrick Lamar is releasing an LP soon. According to journalist Landon Buford, Drake, and Kendrick Lamar‘s feud is reaching its second round, with an industry insider claiming Lamar will release his next album the day before the 6God. As Buford shares in an exclusive published on August 29, the source reveals the “Not Like Us” creator’s plans but does not provide a release date or album titles. “Kendrick is slated to release his album the day before Drake’s album drops,” says the anonymous insider.
