Stevie Wonder surprises fans with a last-minute tour announcement.
On Thursday (Sept. 19), the legendary singer-songwriter, took to his Instagram stories with an exciting announcement: he’s hitting the road for his “Sing Your Song! As We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart” tour, all in a bid to rally voters ahead of Election Day.
According to the announcement, the 10-date trek is set to kick off on October 8 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Stevie aims to spread a powerful message of “joy over anger, kindness over recrimination, peace over war,” as he stated in a press release, People reports.
The tour will hit several battleground states, including Maryland, North Carolina, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
As for the tour’s catchy name, it’s a nod to his single “Can We Fix Our Nation’s Broken Heart,” marking his first new track in four years, the outlet reports. Just two days before dropping this exciting news, Stevie wowed the crowd with a heartfelt speech supporting Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, followed by an electrifying rendition of his classic 1973 hit “Higher Ground.”
“I love you. Every song that I’ve sung, every song that I’ve written is because of my love for you right here,” he expressed during his speech.
“But this year, I prayed very hard for peace to come to our world’s nations, but also to each one of our hearts, even though our hearts have been beaten and broken beyond prayer, I know the importance of action,” he continued. “Now is the time to understand where we are and what it will take to win. Win the broken hearts, win the disenchanted, win the angry spirits. Now is the time.”
This tour marks Wonder’s first since his 2018 “The Stevie Wonder Song Party.” Get ready to sing, dance, and reflect as he brings his powerful message to the stage!
