Eve scores a multi-million dollar deal for her music catalog with Iconoclast amid promoting her new book, Who’s That Girl.
According to Music Business World Wide, the music acquisition company acquired the publishing rights to the catalog of a double platinum-selling, Grammy Award-winning hip-hop artist. According to sources, the deal is worth $25 million to $50 million, making it an eight-figure transaction.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Eve became one the first female rap artist to achieve platinum with her classic such as “What Ya’ll Want,” “Love Is Blind,” and “Let Me Blow Your Mind.” She was the first lady of the Ruff Ryders record label. Eve won a Grammy for her collaboration with Gwen Stefani, “Let Me Blow Your Mind,” at the 44th Grammy Awards.
Olivier Chastan, who launched Iconoclast in late 2021, has rapidly expanded the company’s portfolio. In a press release, Chastan hailed Eve as a “trailblazer” in the music industry. The rapper first rose to prominence in the late 1990s with her debut album.
At the time, Eve’s debut album’s success was only the third female rapper in history to reach number one on the Billboard 200 chart. She eventually dived into acting, including her own sitcom, and starring roles in blockbuster films such as the Barbershop franchise.
“Eve’s contributions to hip-hop and popular culture are unparalleled,” Chastan said in a statement. “She’s not only a groundbreaking artist but a pioneer for women in the genre. We’re honored to preserve and elevate her legacy, ensuring her influence continues to inspire future generations of artists and fans.”
In the new deal, Eve was represented by Wayne Russell and Pippa Wealthall of Massive Management. She currently has over six million monthly listeners on Spotify.
