Kendrick Lamar was recently spotted in California filming scenes for the upcoming project by South Park co-creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. The rapper, known for his hit “Not Like Us,” is collaborating with his partner Dave Free as producers on this highly anticipated live-action comedy, set to be released in theaters on July 4, 2025.

In a statement earlier this year, Paramount CEO Brian Robbins praised the film’s script, calling it “one of the funniest and most original scripts we’ve ever read and it’s certain to create some fireworks.” According to Entertainment Tonight, the film will explore a unique storyline where “the past and present come to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”

This isn’t Lamar’s first collaboration with Stone and Parker; he previously worked with them on the music video for “The Heart Part 5” in 2022. During that project, they assisted him with the deep fake technology that allowed him to seamlessly switch his face with figures like Kobe Bryant, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, and O.J. Simpson. While it remains unclear if Lamar will make a cameo in the new film, he is no stranger to acting, having previously appeared in 50 Cent’s hit series Power.

The South Park film project marks another significant chapter in Lamar’s busy year. He has already released one of the year’s most popular songs with “Not Like Us,” and he has also been announced as the headliner for the upcoming Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.
