Latto is hinting at something exciting with her new friend, Yadira Ramirez, a former Waffle House employee who recently went viral. On Tuesday, October 8th, Latto shared photos on Instagram with Ramirez. Ramirez gained attention after posting a TikTok video last month set to Latto’s track “Brokey.”
Ramirez later revealed that she was fired from Waffle House for participating in the “Brokey” Challenge. She was also placed on the “unable to rehire” list, despite having worked there for six years. In late September, Ramirez met Latto, who surprised her with a $10,000 gift.
The recent photos of the duo posing with waffles sparked rumors. Fans speculate that they might be filming a music video for “Brokey.” This track is from Latto’s latest album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. The “Brokey” Challenge originally emerged after Latto’s song was criticized for supposedly mocking low-income workers. In response, Latto tweeted, “I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys 💔 so I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to Brokey & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video.”
Although “Brokey” only has a lyric video for now, fans speculate that the new pictures could be from an official music video shoot.
Released in August, Latto’s *Sugar Honey Iced Tea* album features 21 tracks. It includes collaborations with Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Mariah The Scientist, Young Nudy, Hunxho, Coco Jones, and Teezo Touchdown. Megan appears twice on the album—on the track “Squeeze” and the “Sunday Service Remix” with Flo Milli and Cardi B.
In a recent Billboard interview, Latto discussed the album’s influences. She drew inspiration from Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, and Lil Kim. At the same time, she infused the album with her Southern Hip Hop style. Confident in her direction, Latto expressed how she’s fully in control of her music now, stating, “I’m doing what I want to do.”
