Lil Durk is stepping up to help victims of Hurricane Milton, which has recently wreaked havoc across parts of Florida. The storm has already claimed the lives of at least 14 people, and that number is expected to rise. Through his Instagram Stories, the Chicago rapper extended his support to those affected by the disaster.

“Me and my team @neighborhoodheroesfoundation want to put focus on the tragic situation in the Florida areas,” Durk shared. “We want to be ahead of everything and we’re planning to get water and food together for the aftermath of the hurricane, inshallah. We will keep everybody in our Dua.”

While Lil Durk is using his platform to offer aid during Hurricane Milton, not everyone in the Hip Hop community has responded with the same sense of urgency. Dame Dash recently revealed that he initially hesitated to evacuate his Florida home because he feared appearing “soft.”

“We were like, ‘Alright, we’re gonna try to grind it out and stay,’” Dash said on Instagram Live. “Because none of our neighbors were leaving, and the people that we know that are from Florida, it kinda seemed like we were soft if we were leaving — pause.”

Fortunately, after realizing the storm’s severity, Dame and his family made the decision to leave for safety. “I started stressing a little,” he admitted, before ultimately deciding to evacuate. “We got a place to go. If you live in a place where natural disasters happen…you gotta have a hurricane house to go to.”

Despite safely evacuating, Dame expressed his frustration with the situation, signing off by saying, “But I’m sick of this shit, I ain’t gonna hold you.”

Hurricane Milton has been described as one of the worst storms to hit Florida in a century, leaving millions without power as rescue efforts continue.
