Benzino has made an offer of a truce to longtime rival Eminem.
Rap stars have been at odds for over 20 years, and both have dissed each other in new music this year. In an interview with TMZ Hip Hop, Benzino expressed the need for reconciliation.
Since they’re both older, he thinks it’s only fitting that they make peace with Eminem since this is an opportunity for them to unite “for the culture.” Before TMZ Hip-Hop, Benzino expressed his exhaustion beefing with Eminem during his emotional interview with Drink Champs.
In his 2002 diss track “Nail In The Coffin,” Eminem mocked Benzino with jabs about his age. Benzino retaliated with a barrage of diss songs heavily promoted at the time in The Source magazine, which Benzino once owned. During its peak, 50 Cent, G-Unit, and Shady Records participated in the beef.
Despite their storied feud, which included Benzino’s “Rap Elvis” diss track from earlier this year, the Boston rapper says he’s done with the back-and-forth. The only thing left, according to Benzino, is for Eminem’s die-hard fans—known as the “Stans”—to stop trolling him on social media.
In January, Eminem raps about Benzino and his daughter Coi Leray in the latest diss track, “Doomsday Pt.2.” About Benzino, Em raps, “Now I got a riddle, one condition, you mustn’t laugh/ What is the opposite of Benzino? A giraffe/ ‘Go at his neck,’ how the fuck is that?/ How can I go at somethin’ he doesn’t have?”
Eminem raps about Coi Leray: “Well, I guess then I regret to inform you, hate to spoil the day, but this doesn’t bring me no joy to say, guess that Coi Leray feat’s in the toilet, aye?”
Benzino and Coi Leray have been at odds with each other since last year. Leray asked never to be associated with her father after he publicly defended R. Kelly.
Slim Shady has not yet responded to the possible truce.
