Chief Keef is telling his life story in an upcoming documentary.
According to Variety, the doc will be produced by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and directed by Lyrical Lemonade founder Cole Bennett.
The doc will chronicle the “Love Sosa” rapper’s meteoric rise on the Chicago drill scene, his meteoric rise, and his recent comeback to the rap game.
“The documentary will examine the inception and rise of Chief Keef as the creator of drill rap, a genre which changed both Hip Hop and the music industry; as well as the city of Chicago and the influence it played in Keef’s past and future,” the summary of the doc read.
“Exploring Chicago’s historically segregated neighborhoods and gang violence alongside Keef’s musical journey, the project will aim to… unpack Keef’s effect on the city and the music industry [and] uncover what has happened to him in the decade since his political exile as he attempts to make a triumphant return home,” the synopsis continued.
At Bennett’s Lyrical Lemonade Summer Splash 2024 festival, Keef performed at his first concert in Chicago in more than 10 years.
Previously, Chief Keef shared that he was at work on a documentary titled “The Story of Sosa: The Movie” in partnership with Apple Music in 2017, but the film was never released.
This year also saw the release of Keef’s Almighty So 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to 2013’s Almighty So. The project featured notable guest appearances from Quavo, Sexyy Red, G Herbo, Ballout, Tierra Whack, and Lil Gnar.
