Diddy’s request for bail has hit another snag in his latest court appearance.

Reporting from the New York Times states that prosecutors argued that Diddy should be permitted to use his wealth to “pay his way out of detention.”

“The District Court rightly rejected Combs’s effort to pay his way out of detention,” the prosecution wrote. “When the record established that no set of conditions could ensure the safety of the community.”

Diddy’s legal team argued that there was no evidence of witness tampering or interfering with the investigation. The attorneys claimed that the government’s ruling was “based on speculation, not evidence that he had tried to interfere with the investigation into his conduct.”

The prosecutors responded by noting that Diddy had contacted a witness before his arrest. They asserted that Diddy used recordings of allegedly coerced sexual acts as “collateral” to keep witnesses from testifying against him.

“Combs’s longstanding and sophisticated methods of obstructing justice and silencing witnesses more than established his dangerousness,” the prosecutors wrote.

Federal prosecutors formally charged Diddy with running a “criminal enterprise” and accused of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Diddy’s lawyers proposed a bail package that included a private security detail and no access to phones or the internet. Also, he could only be visited by those from an approved list of guests. The legal team offered a $50 million bond.

On two separate occasions, Diddy’s bail was denied.

Nov. 4 is the scheduled appeal hearing date but his lawyers asked for a postponement. His legal team will offer a new release application to the lower court based on “certain relevant new information.”

According to the defense team’s statement, their new discovery includes videos of various consensual sexual encounters involving Diddy causing doubt as to “which of his prior sexual partners now claim, years later, that they felt coerced.”
