Wiz Khalifa has reportedly been indicted in Romania for smoking marijuana during his performance at the Beach, Please! Festival this past summer. According to Romania-Insider, local authorities decided to indict the rapper, whose real name is Cameron Thomaz, following a tribunal in Constanța on October 16th. In Romania, recreational marijuana use is illegal, and if convicted, Wiz Khalifa could face a prison sentence ranging from three months to two years or be fined.
The incident occurred on July 13th, when Wiz Khalifa headlined the Beach, Please! Festival. During his performance, a video captured him lighting up a joint on stage, which quickly went viral. Shortly after, he was detained by Romanian authorities but was released soon after. A statement from the Romania Police confirmed, “Investigations revealed that during a performance at a music festival in the Costinești resort, Constanța County, he possessed more than 18 grams of cannabis (a risk drug) and consumed another quantity of cannabis on stage in the form of a hand-rolled cigarette.”
Following his release, Wiz Khalifa took to social media to address the situation. On X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “Last night’s show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage. They were very respectful and let me go. I’ll be back soon. But without a big a*s joint next time.”
This news comes less than two weeks after Wiz and his partner welcomed a baby girl into their family.
