It appears Mike Dean isn’t a fan of Tyler, The Creator’s latest track. On Sunday (Oct. 27), the Ye/Travis Scott collaborator called “Thought I Was Dead” “racist sh*t” in a social media comment section.

Tyler’s lyrics on the track address “white rappers,” which resulted in Dean’s remark. On “Thought I Was Dead,” Tyler raps: “White boys mockin’ this sht and y’all mad at me? Y’all can suck my dck / Pull up old tweets, pull up old t-shirts, all that, I moonwalk over that btch.”

The lyric follows Tyler’s comments on white rappers in a recent interview with Maverick Carter. While Dean may have thought the lyric generalized a race, fans suggest that the verse was directed at new rap star Ian.  “This white kid, regular caucasian man, and he’s like mocking Future and Gucci Mane like rap music,” Tyler told Mav. “And people like, ‘this sh*t hard.  It’s not ever satire, it’s like ‘I’m just joking, I’m just mocking’.  But I’m like, no, no, no.  You can’t.  And I hold rap music so close and I’m a nerd about this sh*t. This is like… weird. I’m looking at it and something about it don’t sit well with me.  In comparison to someone like a Mac Miller or an Eminem.  Who it didn’t seem like they was mocking it, they had a genuine love for it.”

Tyler, The Creator’s comments in the interview were responded to by Ian’s manager, Bu. Disappointed, the manager said, “I never thought I’d see the day where you become old and hate on the youth.”

The latest single prepares for the release of Tyler’s new album, Chromakopia, which drops everywhere on Monday, October 28. A world tour for the latest album has been announced with popular acts Lil Yachty and Paris, Texas USA.

Mike Dean is currently working on new music by Kid Cudi, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott.
