SZA spoke to her fans on Tuesday (Nov. 5) about the importance of voting while the nation waits for the next U.S. president.
Election Day marked the final opportunity for Americans to cast their votes in a pivotal U.S. presidential election, with Kamala Harris, Donald Trump, and various independent candidates vying for the nation’s highest office. Emphasizing the importance of this election, R&B sensation SZA encouraged her fans to make their voices heard at the polls.
“Make sure [you] vote today or [you] can’t complain,” SZA reminded her followers on Instagram, adding that she had already cast her ballot two weeks earlier in New Jersey.

As one of 47 states offering early or mail-in voting, the Garden State provided an accessible path for voters like her. While SZA didn’t publicly endorse a specific candidate this year, her stance on Donald Trump has been clear.
In 2016, she openly criticized the Republican nominee, saying, “If you support Trump publicly, [you] support bigotry, lying, and xenophobia. [People] are dying from the stereotypes he perpetuates.”
In another post, she expressed dismay over the divisive political climate, writing, “We have Trump removing Muslims from conferences [and] spewing venomous bigotry. He’s in the finals, yet Beyoncé being positive is scary?”
Her remarks likely referred to a prior incident where Trump had a hijab-wearing protester removed from an event, stirring controversy nationwide.
SZA isn’t the only artist using her platform to motivate fans. Her “I Do” collaborator, Cardi B, spoke earlier this month at Harris’ rally in Milwaukee, urging young voters to step up. Detroit also saw a powerful turnout, with Lizzo making a passionate appearance at another Harris event.
Celebrities including Usher, Eminem, GloRilla, Halle Bailey, and Lil Nas X have publicly rallied behind Harris, while Trump’s endorsement list includes Lil Pump, Kodak Black, and Waka Flocka Flame.
On the music front, SZA is gearing up to release her third studio album, LANA. Although a specific release date remains under wraps, she hinted to Hot Ones host Sean Evans that the project is “coming soon.”
So far, SZA’s only solo release this year is the soulful track “Saturn,” which she performed live for the first time at the 66th annual Grammy Awards in February. Fans eagerly await her next chapter, with anticipation reaching a fever pitch as the artist continues to share glimpses of what’s to come.
