Metro Boomin appears to be back in the lab with Young Thug, who is already diving into new projects now that he’s out of jail and ready to make music again.
On Wednesday night (November 6), Metro teased fans with a cryptic Instagram Story showing his computer screen. The story revealed a studio session titled “Jeff Home”—a clear nod to Thug’s real name, Jeffery. While he left details sparse, the hint suggests something fresh from the duo might be on the horizon.
Young Thug’s return has already seen him reconnect with longtime collaborator and mentor, T.I. Earlier this week, the pair shared a moment in a video clip where T.I. prompts Thug with, “Aye, man. What you gotta tell these people?” Thug’s confident response: “Back, Jack […] No cap in my rap. The right way.”
T.I., who is gearing up for his final album and farewell performance next month, hinted at new music himself. In the post’s caption, he playfully wrote, “Yeahhhhh YKWTFGO. The Kings have Reconvened #KingJeffrey #KingSr Guess I’m officially outta retirement [shrug emoji] For tonight [crying face emoji] #welcomehome.”
Since his release, Thug has wasted no time reaching out to his close-knit circle of collaborators. One of his first moves was to call on Lil Baby for a new track, tagging his protégé with the message: “Wham let’s drop one on these rats peter.”
Lil Baby, whose nickname is “Wham,” responded with enthusiasm. Not long after, mysterious billboards appeared in Los Angeles and Chicago reading, “Whatever Wham Say Goes”—a callback to a message Thug shared from jail.
Lil Baby responded in kind, posting a video on Instagram soundtracked by his and Thug’s 2020 hit “We Should” and adding, “I missed you mf!!!! Welcome home my brudda! Thank God you able to get back to your fam in good health and spirits! Wish ya none but billions jack! #whatwhamsaysgoes.”
The outpouring of support, both from Thug’s collaborators and fans, reflects the strong anticipation around his return to the music scene. As for Metro Boomin and Thug’s potential project, fans are already excited.
Whether “Jeff Home” becomes a full track or evolves into something bigger, it’s clear that Thug’s post-incarceration chapter is set to be one of his most exciting yet.
