T-Pain Honored With Street Renaming In His Hometown

T-Pain received a hero’s welcome in his hometown of Tallahassee as the city renamed a street in his honor, Billboard reports.

During a ceremony that took place on Sunday (Nov. 10), T-Pain (whose moniker comes from“Tallahassee Pain”) had a street renamed after him. He also was handed a key to the city by Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey.

A portion of Pasco Street, where the singer/songwriter traveled in his youth from “Nims Middle School to the Walker Ford Community Center”, is now officially named T-Pain Lane.

Following the ceremony, T-Pain gave a performance at the Adderley Amphitheater for the Tallahassee bicentennial celebration. He expressed his gratitude for the outpouring of love from his hometown.

“Everything that went on today was just a dream come true,” T-Pain said to the crowd.“This is solidified, man, that the city is behind me. You know, there’s the proof. This is very special to me and I appreciate y’all.”

Taking to X (Formerly Twitter), Dailey shared his pride in T-Pain’s homecoming.

“Today, I had the incredible honor of presenting @TPain with the Key to the City in recognition of his contributions to music and his ongoing commitment to this community,” Dailey wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “As a hometown hero, T-Pain has inspired countless fans and artists worldwide. We’re proud to call him one of our own.

“To further celebrate his legacy, we named ‘T-Pain Lane’ in his honor. Thank you, T-Pain, for making us #TallahasseeProud!”

In addition to the street renaming, T-Pain will be making an appearance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York on Thursday, Nov. 28. Other performers include Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Chlöe and The War and Treaty,  Bishop Briggs, Coco Jones, and many others.

T-Pain is also slated to perform at iHeartRadio’s Jingle Balls in Los Angeles, Miami, and Atlanta.
