Kehlani has responded emphatically to unsettling rumors about her relationship with her daughter that recently gained traction online.
The controversy began when her ex, Javaughn Young-White, filed court documents amid their custody dispute, suggesting that Kehlani allegedly believes their daughter’s spirit was once one of her past-life spouses. After the claim sparked backlash, Kehlani turned to Instagram to address what she calls a “heartbreaking” misrepresentation, vehemently denying the bizarre accusation.
Describing the incident, Kehlani explained that she had shared a lighthearted story with Young-White after a past-life reading, something she saw as innocent and not to be taken seriously. “As someone who’s occasionally received readings, I connected with an older woman for a ‘past life’ reading,” she shared. “I recapped the experience with my child’s father, laughing it off. It was meant as something lighthearted, nothing more.” She expressed outrage at how the private exchange had been “doctored” and twisted to imply an inappropriate relationship with her daughter.
“For those messages to be altered, with sections omitted to make it seem as though I view myself in an inappropriate relationship with my DAUGHTER… it’s the most devastating thing I’ve ever encountered,” Kehlani wrote, making her feelings unmistakably clear. She revealed that while she’s been silent publicly and addressed matters only in court, this accusation marked a breaking point. “I’ve taken the hits, watched the public hear only one side. But this, this is where I draw the line.”
Concluding her statement, she reaffirmed her stance unequivocally: “I do NOT, and have NEVER, viewed my relationship with my child in any inappropriate way. The rest of these monstrous allegations are being handled in court.”
This public response follows escalating legal tensions since Young-White filed a paternity petition in August. But with her firm response, Kehlani signals she’s putting an end to the false narratives surrounding her and her family.
