SZA, celebrated for her unfiltered honesty, has opened up about her experience with plastic surgery in a candid new interview with British Vogue. The “Saturn” singer revealed that she has some regrets about undergoing a Brazilian butt lift, despite its popularity and her own striking results.
“I’m so mad I did that st,” SZA admitted, reflecting on the procedure and its aftermath. During her recovery, she gained significant weight, a common side effect of the downtime required for healing. Most surgeons recommend a recovery period of six weeks to several months before resuming exercise. For SZA, the experience felt unnecessary in hindsight. “It was just so stupid. But who gives a fk? You get a BBL and realize you didn’t need it. It doesn’t matter.”
Despite her frustrations, SZA confessed she does appreciate the aesthetic outcome. “I love my butt. Don’t get me wrong—it looks nice. It’s something I wanted, and I’m enjoying it. I love shaking it,” she added with characteristic humor.
This isn’t the first time SZA has been transparent about cosmetic procedures. Earlier this year, she discussed having her breast implants removed due to a family history of breast cancer. Speaking on the S.H.E. MD podcast, she admitted she initially ignored the risks and “snuck and got it anyways,” only to regret the decision after experiencing painful fibrosis.
Beyond the physical transformations, SZA also shared insights into her emotional journey while creating her forthcoming album, LANA. “I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s just s**t that happened to me,” the Grammy winner reflected. She described letting go of past pain, adding, “Yeah, I experienced cruelty, but I have to put it down at some point.”
The new album, along with a deluxe edition of her acclaimed SOS project, is set for release before the end of the year. As always, SZA’s ability to balance vulnerability with resilience remains one of her most compelling qualities, both in her music and personal revelations.
