Reports state that 21 Savage and his Leading By Example Foundation held the sixth edition of their holiday toy giveaway at The Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center in Atlanta this past Saturday.
Partnering with DeKalb County, the event saw more than 3,000 toys, clothing, bicycles, food, and other gifts handed out to over 1,000 local families. During the event, Congressman Hank Johnson and his wife, Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson, honored 21 Savage with four proclamations and two community service awards. One of the proclamations officially recognized December 21st as “21 Savage Leading By Example Day” in DeKalb County, celebrating his contributions to the community. This annual toy drive follows the success of the foundation’s “Issa Back to School Drive” held earlier this year.
During the school drive, 21 introduced the first-ever Leading By Example Social Impact Village, a project supported by Amazon Access. The village showcased a variety of Atlanta-based nonprofits, such as the Decatur-Dekalb branch of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and Wealthy Habits.
In other news, 21 Savage has shared his personal list of the top five rappers hailing from Atlanta.
During a recent appearance on Deep Cuts with Vic Blends, while sitting in the barber’s chair, the rapper spoke candidly about his picks for the city’s finest. 21 asserted, “I’m number one, based off of lyrics.” “J.I.D. number two. (Young) Thug, number 3. (Lil) Baby, number four. Pluto, number five.”
