Justice for Daunte Wright!
Former Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, police officer Kim Potter has been sentenced to two years in prison for fatally shooting 20-year-old Daunte last year on April 11. In December, Potter was convicted of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter for the killing.
Potter is required to serve two-thirds of that time (or 16 months) of her sentence in prison, CNN reports. She’ll be eligible for supervised release for the other third with good behavior. Potter, has said she mistakenly drew her gun instead of her Taser when she fatally shot Wright, a Black man, during a traffic stop in April 2021.
Duantet was killed after a traffic stop. Daunte reportedly called his mother as it was happening and told her they pulled him over because of his air fresheners hanging from the rearview mirror.
