Yikes! From a fight on the court to a fight on social media, Marcus Morris took quite a hit last night.
It all started during the Grizzlies vs Knicks game when things got heated and physical between Elfrid Payton and Jae Crowder causing somewhat of a brawl to ensue. This resulted in Payton, Crowder, and Morris all being dismissed from the ending of the game.
But that wasn’t the end of fights once Morris made some unsavory and sexist comments about Crowder in a post-game interview, stating that Crowder had “female tendencies” in “a man’s game”. Morris went on further to call Crowder “soft” and “very woman-like”.
These comments didn’t go over well with many women and men on social media, as they took to Twitter to voice their own opinions about Morris’s offensive comments with some even going as far as to call for his suspension.

Marcus Morris just said that Jae Crowder is “soft and very WOMAN-LIKE.”
Imagine being this ignorant and sexist in 2020.
He just became my most-hated player in the NBA. Easily.

In a week where the discourse around the NBA has been entirely centered around supporting the women’s game, lifting up girls who play basketball, and being a good #girldad… Marcus Morris utters this absolute idiocy, that is profoundly sexist and entirely derogatory.
Shame. https://t.co/vSVZlMTZo4

Well, of course, Morris took to Twitter as well to issue an apology for his comments, professing his respect for women.
I apologize for using the term “female tendencies” I have the upmost respect for women and everything they mean to us. It was a Heat of the moment response and I never intended for any Women to feel as though in anyway I’m disrespecting them. Again I apologize with my comments.

Maybe Morris will think twice before making a statement in another post-game interview.
