Michelle Obama stood in front of the podium for the last time as First Lady as she gave her final speech to the citizens of America at the 2017 School Counselor of the Year event at the White House.
The speech was full of gratitude as she took the time to thank those who have supported her in the last eight years.
Towards the end of the speech she got emotional as she said goodbye following strong words about the future of America.
“I want our young people to know that they matter, that they belong,” she said. “So don’t be afraid. You hear me, young people? Don’t be afraid. Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered. Empower yourself with a good education. Then get out there and use that education to build a country worthy of you boundless promise. Lead by example with hope. Never fear.”
She will be on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday to give her final thoughts on her time in The White House.
