Derek Chauvin will NOT get a new trial. A judge ruled yesterday (June 24).

In addition, the judge denied Chauvin’s request for a hearing on misconduct, possibly from jurors. The judge ruled his lawyer didn’t prove the jury lied during the selection process, The Jasmine Brand reports.

Today (June 25), the former Minneapolis police officer is scheduled to be sentenced today for the murder of George Floyd. Prosecutors want Chauvin to get 30 years behind bars. We’ll keep you updated as the story moved forward. Check out the livestream:

Floyd was killed last year on May 25 after Chauvin had his knee pinned down on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes. In heartbreaking footage, you can hear Floyd beg and say, “I can’t breathe.” He also called for his mother while taking his last breaths
