Following the backlash Lil Nas X received for releasing the custom Nike Air Max 97s, called “Satan Shoes,” Nike denies having any involvement in the sneaker.

In a statement, Nike said, “we do not have a relationship with Lil Nas or MSCHF. Nike did not design or release these shoes, and we do not endorse them.”

According to reports, Nike has filed a lawsuit against MSCHF over the Lil Nas X “Satan Shoes” for trademark infringement, false designation of origin, and trademark dilution.

In the lawsuit, filed in federal court in the Eastern District of New York, Nike claims the shoes were “done without Nike’s approval or authorization, and Nike is in no way connected with this project.”
