The Louisville Sergeant Jonathan Mattingly who was involved in the unjust murder of Breonna Taylor is suing her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker.
According to sources, Mattingly claims he suffered “severe trauma, mental anguish, and emotional distress,” due to Walker’s actions. The suit says, “Walker’s conduct in shooting Mattingly is outrageous, intolerable, and offends all accepted standards of decency and morality.”
On March 13, Mattingly and two other officers entered Taylor’s with a warrant to execute a drug investigation. The discrepancy about the case is that the officers claim they knocked and announced themselves, but Walker claims he’s “a million percent sure” they didn’t.
As a result, Walker, who is a licensed gun owner allegedly fired a shot that hit Mattingly in the leg because he thought the officers were intruders. Then, the police opened fire with multiple shots, fatally shooting Taylor. She had no criminal record and no drugs were in the house.
After the horrible incident, Walker was
arrested and charged with attempted murder over the shooting, but the charges were later dropped. Walker sued the Louisville Metropolitan Police Department. Based on the state’s “Stand Your Ground” law, he sought immunity. CBS reports Walker’s attorney called Mattingly’s lawsuit a “baseless attempt to further victimize and harass Kenny.”
Louisville gave Breonna’s family a multi-million dollar wrongful death settlement, but they didn’t hold anyone accountable for the “wrongful death.” The three officers involved were not charged for killing Breonna, only Brett Hanikson was charged for putting the neighbors in danger.
