50 Cent initially criticized NYC Mayor Eric Adams over immigration policies, but now questions Hochul’s funding and effectiveness of proposed initiatives, while reflecting on his past endorsement of Trump.
Mayor Adams publicly reached out to the entertainment mogul, saying, “I told 50 Cent to hit me up. I would love to explain it to him so that he can go out and do another tweet saying, ‘You know what? Eric is just a smart manager and now we understand why he was elected by the people of this city to be the mayor.’”
50 Cent shared the video of Adams reaching out on his Instagram account on Monday (Feb.6) with a caption that revealed he spoke with the mayor and addressed Gov. Kathy Hochul.
“I talk to @nycmayor Eric Adams he broke down why this pilot program was put in place,” 50 wrote. “He appeared to be on point, and on top of things. Now I want to talk to @govkathyhochul about the laws preventing him from doing things to make the situation better in New York. and where the proposed 2.4 billion she’s planning on spending on migrants is coming from…NOT MY TAXES!“
Last month, Gov. Kathy Hochul proposed a plan to provide shelter and legal assistance for asylum-seekers while urging the federal government to provide more support.
“We’re doing this not just because it’s the right thing to do for the migrants and for the city of New York,” said Gov. Hochul. “We also know that companies won’t do business in New York if there are thousands of people sleeping on the streets, or the quality of life is dramatically impacted because the city is forced to cut essential services.”
50 Cent endorsed Donald Trump in 2020 citing his tax policies as the reason. He would rescind the endorsement upon the request of his ex-girlfriend Chelsea Handler. After the interview aired, 50 would say in a post, “Fuck Donald Trump, I never liked him.”
