Busta Rhymes brought Missy Elliot to tears with a heartfelt message that celebrated her recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction.
“This is an appreciation post, a congratulatory post and an incredible acknowledgment and I think is absolutely necessary to be made right now. I had to make the time to really big up my sister Missy Misdemeanor Elliott,” Busta said in a video posted to Instagram. “You are brilliant, you are an icon, you are a source of one of my greatest inspirations. It’s beautiful that you have pulled from me as a source for great inspiration as well. We pull from each other so much that’s why we call each other twin. There ain’t enough words that could truly describe how proud of you I am. How happy for you I am.”
The New York native continued, “A feeling that is really cutting in a different kind of way deeply into my soul because I know how hard you worked for this moment to be inducted not only in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but to be the first female MC in the culture of Hip Hop since the inception of the culture on the 50th birthday of Hip Hop… I just think it’s important that everybody take a second to realize how incredible this is.”
Missy reposted the clip and revealed that it made her emotional. “This post brought tears to my eyes,” she said. “The fact that you even took the time out of your schedule to do this, I am [honored]. I’ve learned so much from you visually [and] musically, and knowledge. I remember my first album, I asked you to be on it — I was so scared you would say, ‘Nah, ma you not hot enough.’ But, you said, ‘YES’ [and] you have always supported [and] protected me since that day!
The “Work It” hitmaker concluded, “If I could buy a thousand bouquets for all you have done for the culture, it still wouldn’t be enough. I am GRATEFUL [and] I LOVE [you] twin. Check out the post below.
