After beginning the week singing “Big Poppa” with actress Angela Bassett, comedic legend Dave Chappelle finished the week weighing in on the viral Katt Williams interview during a standup set in Los Angeles last Friday (Jan. 19).

The 50-year-old comic acknowledged that Williams shaded his comedic peers by describing their shady practices but inquired why Williams didn’t call out the villainy of white comics along with the black comics.

“What part of the game is this?” Chappelle said at the beginning of the 2-minute clip. “He (Williams) only ‘ethered’ ni–as. He didn’t say anything about any of these white boys like none of these white boys function like that.  And Katt is one of the best painters in the game. Why is he drawing all ugly pictures of us? Stop.”

Adding an impersonation of Williams, Chappelle would continue to talk about the comic as other comedians stood on stage to chime in including Deray Davis. Chappelle pointed the finger back at Williams and called him a “hurt person.”

“And hurt people, hurt people,” Chappelle continued. “But I’m a hurt person that never hurt people. And he does it all the time. ‘F–k this one, f–k that one, and f–k this one, but n–a, I didn’t hear anything you did wrong. You didn’t do nothing wrong? Katt didn’t do nothing wrong?”

Katt Williams had the utmost respect for Chappelle during his Club Shay Shay interview, which included venomous remarks about Steve Harvey, Kevin Hart, Cedric The Entertainer, and others. Williams talked about Chappelle walking away from his Comedy Central contract valued at $50 million dollars and relating it to the four times he also had to turn down a similar amount of money for his integrity.

Williams’ Club Shay Shay interview dropped the same week as Chappelle’s new Netflix comedy special, “The Dreamer,” in which Chappelle would talk about the comedic landscape following the slap heard around the world by Will Smith to Chris Rock.

Williams continues to respond to those mentioned in the interview as he shares a snippet of his upcoming diss track toward rapper Ludacris on the new Suge Knight podcast. On top of the diss track, Williams also announced that Tori Hart, Kevin Hart’s ex-wife, will be one of his opening act on his 100-city tour.

Ebro and Peter Rosenberg chimed in on the Club Shay Shay interview a few weeks ago during a segment of “Congratulations You Played Yourself.” Ebro and Rosenberg identified fraudulent claims in the interview. Watch the full segment below.
