G Herbo has been directed by the authorities to reimburse the purported victims of his $1.5 million fraud scheme, handing over restitution checks worth $140,000.
According to reports, Herbo confessed to his involvement in the crime, enabling him to reserve top-notch hotels, charter private jets, acquire rare puppies, and even splurge on a deluxe villa. Herbo arrived in court on Friday (July 28), declaring guilty to “one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of making a false statement to federal officials.”
In 2020, Herbo and his crew faced serious charges, and in 2021, an extra accusation of deceiving the authorities was tacked on. The Chicago rapper could potentially serve a maximum of two decades in prison, although reports suggest he might receive a shorter sentence of two to three years on November 7.
In a bold declaration, U.S. attorney Joshua S. Levy made his stance clear that “Mr. Wright used stolen account information as his very own unlimited funding source, using victims’ payment cards to finance an extravagant lifestyle and advance his career.”
“Mr. Wright’s conduct affected countless businesses and individuals across the United States who had to foot his nearly $140,000 bill in unauthorized transactions. Mr. Wright flaunted his lavish spending on social media, in music videos and in industry news.” Levy added:
“This office and our law enforcement partners are committed to ensuring that individuals and businesses are protected against fraudsters. This case should serve as a reminder that if you break the law, you will be prosecuted and held accountable – regardless of who you are.”
Herbo and his crew faced allegations of pilfering identities to rack up around $1.5 million in deceitful expenses. In the heat of the charges, he staunchly denied all wrongdoing, but it wasn’t merely words that he relied on to express his stance. In December 2020, he dropped “Statement,” a track that echoed his thoughts on the allegations. G Herbo was accused of deceiving a federal agent in November 2018 regarding his association with Antonio Strong, a promoter believed to be the brain behind an identity theft operation.
As for his Chicago gun case, G Herbo was arrested on July 9 after police officers discovered a Glock 33 in his vehicle during a traffic stop, which stemmed from him failing to display a turn signal. The “I Like” rapper faces charges for possessing a weapon in a public spot, but swiftly posted bail. A court appearance is scheduled for a later date. Best regards go out to Herbo’s estate and his fans right now. More news will be provided as this unfolds!
