The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you informed on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:
Kanye West:
Kanye’s rumored boo, Chaney Jones defended her name after she was spotted on vacation with Diddy’s 28-year-old son, Justin Combs. According to Chaney, she wasn’t on vacation, “with Justin.” She said she was on a trip with a large group of people she’s known for “years.”
She addressed an online critic that had negative comments about her being with Justin. Chaney said, “Please stop believing everything you see on the internet lol.” However, it’s not clear if Kanye and Chaney are still together.
Gunna:
Gunna’s attorneys filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus. Gunna’s legal team argues prosecutors have little to no evidence to support their client’s incarceration. Kim Kardashian Tweeted Free Gunna, & as we all know she’s studying to be a lawyer and working as an advocate for jail reform, it’s not clear if she’s taking on Gunna’s case. Lil Baby gave an update on Young Thug and Gunna.
Trina:
Trina’s 17 YO niece, Toni Chester, was shot and killed in Miami. Details aren’t fully clear, police was at the scene and discovered Toni was dead on arrival. Two other men had gun shot wounds and are in stable condition. Police are investigating a motive and searching for the shooter. Our hearts and thoughts are with Trina, and Toni’s family at this time.
Kodak Black:
Kodak Black was pulled over for illegal dark tinted windows, police searched his car claim they smelled marijuana, found 31 Oxycodone pills and close to $75,000 in cash. Kodak was arrested for felony drug charges and was later released on a $75,000 bond. Kodak’s lawyers say their client was prescribed the pills by a doctor for chronic pain. Kodak mentions using the controlled substance to combat stress in his latest song, “Haitian Scarface” you can check that out now on the new Hot 97 app.
Drake:
Drake trolled Joe Budden in the funniest way. Joe and Drizzy have a strange rap beef, so it was interesting when Drake trolled him. Drake was in Europe and posted a video of someone dancing to Joe Budden’s classic hit, “Pump It Up.” Drake’s right hand man, Chubbs had the funniest reaction.
