Jamie Foxx is ready to tell his story.
Back in July of last year Foxx went through an undisclosed medical emergency that left him hospitalized for months. Since, then, Foxx has made a full recovery and has returned to work.
While accepting the Producers Award at the African American Film Critics Association luncheon over the weekend, Foxx says he’s ready to tell his story.
“Everybody wants to know what happened, and I’m going to tell you what happened,” said Foxx, per Variety. “But I’ve gotta do it in my way. I’m gonna do it in a funny way. We’re gonna be on the stage. We’re gonna get back to the stand-up sort of roots.”
“It’ll be called, ‘What Had Happened Was,’ and it’s got all the things that happened, especially on our side of our community,” he continued. “I dove out of a car to save this Black woman’s purse. ‘That ain’t no damn Jamie, that’s a clone’” he teased as a joke.
We previously reported that the comedian shared a video via his Instagram of a 2002 comedy skit he did doing an impression of the late musician Prince. “PRINCE singing the Brady Bunch theme song was a moment… I’m planning on bringing more moments,” Foxx captioned the video. “Going to get on somebody’s stage somewhere near you. I got some jokes, and a story to tell…”
