Killer Mike has had one hell of a 24 hours.

After sweeping the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 4), he is by his oldest son’s side as he gets a kidney transplant. TMZ broke the news on Monday (Feb. 5).  Mike spoke on his son’s kidney disease in November 2023 with Graham Bensinger.

Mike’s son, Mikael “Pony Boy” Render, 21, underwent transplant surgery after waiting three years for a kidney match. Mike shared with the media that his son’s battle with the kidney disease interferred with him fully experiencing his teenage years.

Reports say that Mikael’s number was called on Monday following Killer Mike and his latest album, Michael,  winning his first three Grammy Awards for Best Rap Album, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song. While Mike went viral for his acceptance speech, he would instantly overshadow his speech with the viral video of him handcuff and prep-walk-ish exit out of the Crypto Center by LAPD in Los Angeles.

Killer Mike was detained on Sunday night following an altercation with a security guard who was knocked down by Mike. Mike would not be arrested and released later Sunday night, and he returned to enjoying his Grammy weekend. Mike would comment on the situation late Sunday, simply describing the incident as a “speed bump.”

As questions of the detainment proceed, he added: “I won a Grammy. We party all night. Shout out to my record label. Ain’t nothing had happened, man. But we winners. That’s it.”

Released in June 2023 on Concord, Killer Mike’s Michael features Young Thug, T.I., Andre 3000, Ty Dolla $ign, 2 Chainz, and many more.
