Lil Baby will make things right after his show got cut short due to a shooting.
The “Stand On It” rapper and Rylo had to be rushed off the stage at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee after gunshots broke out. Police responded to the September 7 incident just before 10:30 p.m, a news source reports.
One man was injured and thankfully wasn’t in critical condition. According to concertgoers, shots were fired 30 minutes into the show and it was evacuated.
A fan named, Clarissa Johnson said she, “heard a pop,” according to the report. She continued,
“I’m not sure what happened, but I said to my crew, ‘get down.’ So we evacuated. Once we evacuated, we did a head count. I’m stilI not sure what happened. It’s not so sweet tonight, though.”
After a preliminary investigation, police believe the shooting was premeditated and the victim targeted. They’re working closely with the venue to identify and apprehend the shooter. MPD said,
“There were no other injuries resulting from this senseless act, where thousands of concert concertgoers were in attendance.”
Lil Baby plans to give everyone their money back. It’s not clear if he’ll give another date for a new show, but he spoke out via X (Twitter).
“Unfortunately I Couldn’t Perform Last Night In Memphis , Ima Make Sure Everybody Gets A Refund Tho,” with a heart emoji.”
It’s also noted patrons are screened for weapons, guns, and knives which are all prohibited. The police say it’s unclear how the suspect was able to sneak past security, as a result, authorities are also working with the contracted security company to solve the case.
