The Wrap Up with L’Orèal Luchi, keeping you informed on everything that happened in hip hop culture this week:

RIP Takeoff:

Hip-hop was hit hard this week, losing Migos member, Takeoff. He was in Houston with Quavo at a private event playing dice, then an altercation broke out, resulting in gunshots, causing Takeoff to get hit. Medical examiners ruled Takeoff’s death a homicide.

Details surrounding the altercation are fuzzy. Some reports say the argument was over the dice game, same say it wasn’t. The killer is still on the loose and Houston police are asking the public for help. About 40-50 people were at the scene when the shooting occurred. Celebrities, QC CEO, Offset, and Cardi B spoke out online.

Trey Songz:

Trey Songz is cleared from a 2016 civil rape case due to the statute of limitations in California. We covered the story on The Wrap Up; a woman named Jane Doe, said she had a consensual sexual relationship with Trey Songz, but alleges he suddenly turned into a “savage rapist.” Jane claims the singer overpowered and brutally raped her despite her begging him to stop. She was suing Trey for $20 million in damages. In recent years, multiple women, like Jahuara Jeffries and former college basketball player Dylan Gonzalez accused Trey of sexual misconduct. Trey always denied all the allegations.

50 Cent:

50 Cent responded to a lawsuit about a Power executive, Randall Emmet, who is accused of creating a hostile work environment. The suit was filed by a former assistant, G’Blae, who says Randall repeatedly used the N-word and other racist remarks about Black talent, including 50 Cent. I’m wondering if this is another reason 50 wanted to leave Starz. We’ve covered it here on the show, and it’s no secret Fif wasn’t feeling the network; he called them out multiple times. In response to the lawsuit, 50 Cent said, “This does not surprise me. This guy is a real piece of sh*t.”

T.I:

One thing about T.I, he’s not giving up his new comedy career. The rapper was booed at the Barclays a few months back but decided to return to NYC. T.I. had a comedy show in the Bronx that went way better. After the show, T.I spoke on it and said, “I feel like we had a phenomenal time. The crowd enjoyed themselves; we enjoyed ourselves.”

Jazmine Sullivan:

Are you here for a Jazmine Sullivan and a Beyonce collab? Jazmine revealed her dream duet would be with Queen Bey. Jazmine said, “We have two very different voices and tones, but I think if we came together and did something, it would be magic.”
