Rap star Reason drops new freestyles on social media in a 5-part love story co-starring popular host/personality Gina Views after a viral argument with TDE president in 2023.
Last week, Reason released Valentine’s Day-themed freestyles over classic R&B beats. Directed by Cristian Alexander Navarro, the five-part short tells a Tubi-inspired love story narrated by the rapper over classics such as Chris Brown’s “Excuse Me Miss,” Jeremih’s “Birthday Sex,” and Jazmine Sullivan’s “Bust Your Windows.”
“This is a Ghetto Love Story headed to Tubi,” wrote Reason in the comments.
During the Super Bowl, they advertised the short films on social media with a racy image. With Reason captioning the post with “My Super Bowl,” the photo of Views in a towel with Reason’s arm shown laid across the bed went viral as it sparked relationship speculations.
Reason and Gina View’s history starts in 2014 while Views interviewed and hosted freestyle ciphers for up-and-coming Los Angeles recording artists for her own platform. Working with Reason is a full-circle moment for Views.
“Working with Reason on this project was a full circle moment for us both and we really shook the table,” she said when asked about working with Reason. “At the beginning of our careers, people would always think we were dating because of how many times he appeared in my cyphers as a fan favorite. He thought it would be dope to lead into that for the promotion of this Valentine’s Day series. What people don’t know is that I’m actually really good friends with his girlfriend.”
The “Flick It Up” artist released a new freestyle series after a viral argument on the BackOnFigg podcast in August 2023 with TDE president Moosa Tiffith Jr. The argument revealed that TDE co-president Dave Free didn’t want to sign Reason to the label. In 2017, Reason signed a deal with Top Dawg Entertainment and released three albums as a result.
Reason’s latest album, Porches, is available now on all streaming platforms via Top Dawg Entertainment.
In August, Reason talked to Peter Rosenberg about his new album, past issues with Logic, friendship with Joe Budden, label frustration, and more. Watch the full interview below.
