Tyler, The Creator addressed claims that he has a huge ego during his performance at the 2023 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival over the weekend.
“I do interviews and stuff and see folks like, ‘Oh, he has such a huge ego, he’s so full of himself.’ Hell f**king right I’m full of myself, n**ga, ’cause that’s how I feel about me, n**ga,” the “DOGTOOTH” hitmaker said on stage. “I’m full of me because everything I said I wanted to do, I did. And I didn’t let anybody tell me nothing else. And I got a resume to back it up.”
He continued, “So everybody out there, if ya’ll got dreams and y’all feel some type of way about yourself that might exceed how others feel about themselves, f**k ’em and don’t let that s**t cloud your brain, for real.” Tyler later reposted a fan-shot video of the motivational speech on his Twitter account and wrote, “[That’s] my ted talk.” Check out the post below.
SZA, Kendrick Lamar,Clipse, Baby Keem, Ice Spice, Earl Sweatshirt, Lil Yachty, Offset,WILLOW, Jaden Smith, and PinkPantheress, just to name a few also graced the stage at the music festival, which took place at Dodger Stadium from Saturday, Nov. 11 to Sunday, Nov. 12.
As previously reported by HOT 97, back in July, Tyler revealed that he turned down record deals from both JAY-Z and Diddy. During an appearance on DJ Drama’s “Gangsta Grillz” podcast, the Odd Future founder said that JAY-Z tried to sign him while they were eating tacos at his Los Angeles home early on in his career. “[He] invited us to one of his L.A. homes and we just ate tacos,” he recalled. “He wanted to sign us. I was like, ‘Man, you’re cool, but no.’
He added, “Him, Puff… a lot of people were interested… I don’t know, I just [wanted] creative control and do everything.”
