Dom Kennedy, BigXThaPlug, LaRussell, and Rap had many more surprise announcements at the start of the fall, led by a red-hot new track by Mazi VS and Joel Ortiz. 

Last week, the genre gave us thrilling new albums by Tee Grizzley, Pharrell Williams, Leon Bridges, and Lil Tecca. The late Rich Homie Quan’s estate celebrated his 35th birthday with his first posthumous album. On the same day, GloRilla, Rod Wave, and Toosii announced a hip-hop battle royal. In addition to the major releases, emerging stars added new music to streaming services.

As the genre continues to await Cardi B, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar, it is producing some of its best music in years with new stars like Mazi VS, the Sports Book Killer, who released a new collaboration with Jim Jones last month. We still have so much to look forward to.
