50 Cent seems to have avoided being deposed over an incident last year where he threw a microphone into the crowd during a concert, injuring radio host Bryhana Monegain. The Power 106 host sued the G-Unit mogul after being struck by the microphone and has been seeking to question the rapper. According to court documents referenced by Yahoo, Monegain’s lawyers stated, “Due to the pendency of the August 5, 2024 mediation date, an Order compelling [50 Cent] to sit for deposition and provide testimony must be made forthwith.”
Monegain’s legal team had scheduled a deposition for June 13, but 50 Cent did not attend. She has since requested $5,000 in sanctions against him, though a judge has not yet decided if he must undergo deposition. Although 50 Cent avoided criminal charges, Monegain claimed she sustained permanent injuries from being hit by the microphone. TMZ obtained court documents in which Monegain detailed that after realizing his microphone wasn’t working correctly during his performance at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles, 50 Cent threw it into the crowd, hitting her face and wrist and causing severe injuries. Monegain stated she suffered a concussion, an open cut on her forehead, and bruises.
Despite being back on air at the L.A. radio station, Monegain alleges ongoing emotional distress and is suing for lost income, medical expenses, and damages. 50 Cent has denied any intent to injure, with the Los Angeles attorney’s office ruling there was no case to answer. His attorney clarified, “Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis (AKA 50 Cent) would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone. Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.”
While 50 Cent himself has not publicly commented, video footage shows him throwing the microphone in frustration during his performance with YG, after it failed to work correctly.
