On February 6, 2003, 50 Cent finally dropped his anticipated debut album titled “Get Rich Or Die Tryin.”
After being dropped by Columbia Records before the release of what was supposed to be his debut Power Of The Dollar, Curtis Jackson – recovering from being shot nine times signed with Shady/Aftermath records. “Wanksta” had taken New York by storm and was one of the biggest songs in New York City.
He eventually released his hit single “In Da Club” is still to this day the biggest song in his catalog and the rest is history. Singles from Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ include “21 Questions,” “P.I.M.P.,” and “If I Can’t.”
After selling 872,000 copies the first week, the album has gone on to sell over 8.4 million copies to date despite it being leaked early.
50 Cent paid homage to the anniversary of its release with a photo on Instagram.
