50 Cent is opening up to his fans to explain that he no longer wants to use he/him pronouns. However, he is clarifying that it’s not that he doesn’t identify as a man, he simply does not identify as a person. Now, he wants to be referred to as “thing/it.”
He took to Instagram to make the announcement.
“Please refer to me as the thing 50cent, I do not identify as a person anymore I’m a thing,” he wrote. “Thank you in advance.”
Once the news made its rounds, he doubled down on his comments in another Instagram post.
“Yes I identify as thing, my pronoun is THING/ IT,” he captioned a screenshot of an article about his initial post. “Please refer to me as the thing 50cent,or you can say that thing 50cent is the sh*t!”
This all comes as the rapper is currently traversing through Europe on his Final Lap tour. The tour is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his Get Rich or Die Tryn’ album. On the North American leg of his tour, he was joined by names like Busta Rhymes and Jeremih.
One song from the album recently received a new accolade. His hit single In Da Club, has now been diamond certified by the RIAA.
The song has now sold at least 10 million units in the United States and has so far amassed more than 1.2 billion Spotify streams, along with 1.8 billion YouTube views for its official music videos. This new achievement marks 50 Cent’s first ever Diamond plaque.
